If you are new to the wonderful world of digital editing and compositing, Photoshop is the industry leader, no matter what your specific field of interest might be. Photoshop is the software of choice for professional designers, as well as for amateur photographers and You Tubers.

One of the nicest things about Photoshop is that the user interface has changed little over the years, which makes it easy to upgrade from earlier versions. If you have learned how to use a version like Photoshop 6, check out the upgrades available for Photoshop CS3. Then sign up for advanced Photoshop training to see how CS3 can help you reach your full potential.

If you're a novice photographer or just starting to experiment with online video and digital imaging, a good place to start is Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3. This software is free, so it's a great way to learn the fundamentals of digital photography. It will teach you all the basics about how to view, manage, correct, and share your photos online.

Photoshop training will teach you how to fix common problems with a single click, and then you can use Photoshop Album Starter to send your digital photos to mobile handsets. The best thing about Photoshop Album Starter is that it's a fully functional download-it's not a trial evaluation download that will be restricted or limited after an initial period.

Photoshop is dedicated software-the choice for professionals in a broad variety of fields. It is a full featured and complex program, but Photoshop training makes it easy for novices to start creating professional designs and visual effects quickly. To get the best results in the least amount of time, you could look in your community for hands on training. Often, local colleges offer this training. Another possibility is online training or other forms of electronic types of training. Two good examples of this type of training can be seen at Photoshop in 2 Hours and at Photoshop Learning the Easy Way.

Advanced Photoshop training focuses on how to create complex images; it will teach you all the skills you need to master digital image creation, editing, and compositing. One of the best things about Photoshop CS3 training is that it shows experienced users how to quickly solve old problems with new tools and techniques. Advanced Photoshop training will give you new techniques for solving problems like image selection and image correction.

If you've been using an earlier version of Photoshop, check out the upgrades available and sign up for an advanced Photoshop CS3 training course. Advanced Photoshop training will teach you how to:

* Achieve more professional results with layers, gradients, and other tools.
* Use advanced color correction techniques.
* Enhance images with layer masks.
* Master the tools and skills necessary for creating professional composite images.

A great example of training for this more advanced style of work is How to Create Digital Backgrounds. Learn to take a photo of someone and put them in a scene from an exotic place, or even outer space!

Enjoy learning.

Photographs help capture the moments that we wish we could hold on to forever. Your wedding day is encapsulated in a collage of photos. Your daughter’s first birthday party is a gem you keep on the mantle for display. You want to be sure that these photos look as wonderful as the real events felt when they were happening. Whether you are a professional photographer or just one of those people that likes the best things in life, Adobe Photoshop has solutions for all of your photo needs.

The best thing about Photoshop software is that it is not difficult to use. The average person can use Photoshop Elements or any of the other Photoshop products to make beautiful prints without much in the way of instruction. You will have access to cutting edge technologies like Flash and your results will be breathtaking. Take full advantage of this wonderful software that you have in your possession.

If you have an image you want to enhance, you can use Vanishing Point to beef up your image. You can get outstanding results by using Vanishing Point to duplicate, paint or paste images that enhance the perspective of the elements around the photo. Extend the top of that castle you snapped a shot of when you were in England that got cut off by tree branches. Replace the elements of photos that are missing, such as old, historic family photos or damaged prints.

There are a few things you can do to adjust color or the presentation of your images in pictures that can make your photographs appear more professional. You can create near perfect prints using TIFF. If you want to edit your digital photos alter in Photoshop, save them in Tagged Image File Format. This will hold your image quality. Click on File and Save As in your image-editing program. You can find TIFF in the drop down list menu.

If your photos just aren’t crisp enough, you can use a sharpening tool to jazz them up. Another way to sharpen your photos is to use the image editor’s sharpen tool to sharpen up the sides of elements in your photos. You can use the Unsharpen Mask or Sharpen but be careful with them. They cause your image to be grainy or distorted. If you want to put more emphasis on your subject you ca soften the background. To do this you need to choose the whole subject with the image editor’s magic wand.

Pixels are also very important when you want to obtain the clearest picture possible. The more pixels you have the better quality of the photo. For instance, if you have 100 pixels you will have okay pictures that are somewhat mediocre. If you have 150 pixels you will have adequate but not optimum prints. Once you reach 200 pixels you will be able to produce excellent prints that are of great quality. 300 pixels will give you outstanding photos that will impress all that see them.

Photoshop is the graphic designer’s dream come true. Difficult images that used to take special training and hours to complete are suddenly a just a few keystrokes away. One of the many effects you can create in Adobe Photoshop software is a “ghosting” effect - a transparent, seemingly glowing effect you can use on objects to either make them look like real ghosts, or simple make them stand out. It is not difficult to get this effect - you simply need to create a ghosting shader.

To create this ghosting shader, you will need to use two things - the Sampler Info Utility mode and a Ramp texture - so first; you will need to create these tools. Get started by going into your Hypershade mode and follow the software prompts to create three tools - the Sampler Info Utility mode, the Ramp texture, and Lambert Surface Material. Make sure the shading group is turned on in the Lambert Surface Material.

Once you have these tools ready, you will need to connect the V chord of the Ramp texture to the facing ratio function of the Sampler Info Utility. Familiarize yourself with the parameters of the facing ratio so you are sure to get the effect you want. The value it produces ranges between 0 and 1 and depends on where the surface is in relation to the camera eye. Now, connect the Sampler Info Utility and the Ramp texture by opening the Hypershade function and dragging the Sampler Info Utility on top of the Ramp texture. A dialogue box should open to guide you through the connection, and the Connections Editor will open. Make sure Sampler Info Utility is in the output box and Ramp texture in the input box. Look for UV chord under Ramp texture, and expand it. Now choose the Facing Ratio from the output column and expand it, then click V chord. The Sampler Info Utility and the Ramp texture V chord should now be connected.

Now, it’s time to go back to the Lambert Surface Material. Double click on that, and your Attribute Editor box should open. Here, you can pick your ghost’s color. Light greens, blues, or grays work well. You also need to hook up your Ramp texture with the transparency tool in the Attribute Editor. To do this, use your MMB to drag the Ramp texture on top of the transparency slider (in the Lambert Shading Group).

Once the Ramp texture and transparency tool are joined, double click the Ramp texture to re-open the Attribute Editor. This time set the colors to white and dark gray and set the Interpolation tool to “smooth.” Now open the material mode Incandescence tool and set it to dark blue. Go to the Special Effects menu, select “glow” and set the glow to at least .6. You may want to play around with the glow tool to get the exact effect you had in mind.

After completing these steps, you will have created a shading tool you can use to create a “ghosting” effect for a number of applications. Of course, you can use this effect to “draw” a ghost, or you can simply apply to images to make them eye catching. Playing around with this tool will allow you to find its most useful applications for you. Many people use this tool to create the effect of looking through glass or coloring in glass jars. Adding more diffusion will let you use this tool to create a cloudy effect. With a little trial and error, you’ll soon be using your ghosting effect in a wide variety of ways!

Among the many effects you can use Adobe Photoshop to create in an image is to make the image glow. You can use this tool to make backgrounds, foregrounds, text, or any part of an image glow, but for beginning purposes, it is easiest to learn this tool by experimenting with making a whole image glow. Once you master that, you can refine your skills to better suit your purposes.

To get started on making your image glow, choose what you want to work with, and open that file in Photoshop. If the image is not saved as an RDF file format, then you will need to convert it in Photoshop. Once you have selected your image, open the filter tool. Click “filter”, then “render,” then “lighting effects.” This will open the lighting effects box. In the box, choose a light type. Omni is a standard one to work with, but you can experiment with different light types to get the lock you want to achieve. Apply the changes; close the dialogue box, and you’re done! Your whole image should now be glowing.

If you don’t want to work with an image, but rather you want to make some kind of glowing graphics, you can do that using the Photoshop polar coordinates filter. A simple way to start is to create a glowing swirl. To do this, first open a new file and then select “create a new layer.” For simplicity’s sake, while you’re learning, set the foreground color to black and the background color to white.

Next, you want to fill your screen with gradient. Open the gradient tool and then using the tool, trace from the bottom left corner of the screen to the top right - your screen should now be filled with gradient. Now, open the wave window by clicking “filter”, then “distort”, and then “wave.” You will need to change a number of settings in the wave window. The number of generators should be set at 9, and the wavelengths should have a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 110. The amplitude should be set at a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 37. Both the vertical scale and horizontal scale should be 100%. Under type, select “square” and under undefined areas, select “repeated edge pixels.” Apply all of these settings and close the wave box.

Now, go back to filters, and this time click “distort” and then “polar coordinates.” In the window that opens, change the settings to “rectangular to polar” and set the value at 100%. It’s time to invert the colors now. Go to “image”, then “adjustments”, and then “invert.” Now adjust the curves and the sliders in the same way, by opening the image file, then adjustments, and the choosing “curves” or “levels.” There’s not right setting for the curves and sliders; simply set them to however you like them.

You should now open the blending tool and set the layers panel to “multiply.” Go back to the filters mode and select “distort” and “twirl.” In the window that opens, change the setting to 100% and the angle to -80%. Now go to “layers”, then “flatten,” and then “image.” Viola! You should now have a glowing swirl.

You can use your swirl however you like, be it in print media or for online computer graphics. You can also apply the principles you used to make the swirl to making other glowing graphics in Photoshop. As any Photoshop user knows, mastering techniques on the program takes plenty of practice, but once you get the hang of it, it is worth it.

Do you remember snapping photos of extraordinary sights or at key moments in life that you wanted to capture perfectly, but when you got the film back, your moment in time was imperfectly preserved? You were heartbroken and disappointed that you had to put the blurred pictures of Niagara Falls in a frame. That was the way things went far too often for beginning photographers. Then Photoshop was created.

Now you can have state of the art photo fixing software at your disposal. With the array of products that Adobe offers, there is no limit to the improvements you can make to your photos. Be sure you are aware to the tricks you can perform to correct photo flaws. If you are correcting your photos with Photoshop there are ways to achieve optimum level photos that you will be extremely satisfied with. Learn how to create perfect photos that are worthy of your mantle.

If you are working on a bad case of red eye, you can probably just use the red eye tool. Most software made over the past few years will have one. However, if you are trying to correct a tough red eye case, you may need more than the red eye tool. Begin by opening the image, Pick Image>Duplicate and close the original. Next, open the duplicate window and zoom in on one of the windows until the eyes are big as they can get. The other window should be set to 100%. Then stack the two windows so they are together for comparison. Pick the red areas of both eyes and go to Image>Adjust>Color Tone. When the title bar of the color tone dialogue shows up, click desaturate. Once the red is gone you can make the eyes look more natural with more Contrast and the Darker button.

If you want to make your Internet dating photo looks a little bit younger, don’t pile on the makeup. Use Photoshop to smooth out your wrinkles. First you need to open the Image and go to Layers>Duplicate. The go to Image>Blur and choose Soften or Soften More based on the amount of removal you need to do. Then, go to “Masks>New>Hide All”. This displays your original image from the background layer. Next go to Masks>Edit and set the foreground to white. Pick the Paintbrush and gently paint out the flaws. When you are completely pleased with the results, pick Layers>Merge All.

Sometimes, you might end up snapping photos with some background stuff you don’t want. To eliminate the objects in photos that have nothing to do with the picture, begin by picking the Rubber Stamp tool. Next you want to pick an area that is close to the object you want removed. Press Alt-clicking over the undesirable object and use the Rubber Stamp to paint over it.

If you have smudges on your photos, there is an easy way to clean them up. Choose the Smudge tool and clean up the smudged areas on the photo. Don’t forget to clean up after the Smudge Tool, which happens to make a bit of a mess.

Occasionally when you scan photos, your images will be a little less than you would like them to be. First, you will want to fix scanning artifacts, dust and unwanted highlights and shadows. Next you need to adjust overall color and brightness. Then you will want to sharpen the image and take out anything that causes distraction.
