Photography is one of the most popular hobbies in America.Well, it is also popular throughout the world. You may notice it by realizing how big the camery industry is.  With that in mind people are always looking for tips on how to become a better photographer. With the advent of digital cameras today it may be easier to take photos of some things.  But to take photos that are memorable it takes a skill.Fortunately, this skill can be learnt. So here are some advice on how to develop those skills.

Just like in everything else that you want to achieve it takes practice.  In my San Diego wedding photographer business that is what has helped me get better in taking wedding shots. So, in order to practice yourself you must be willing to take photos in every opportunity. If you are in a wedding, then take photos of that wedding.Take the shots that a normal photographer would take. You can compare your shots later on with the shots that the photographer took.

Also you want to practice taking photos at different times of day.  As a San Diego photographer we get plenty of sunshine. But even during daylight you must still know the ins and outs in taking photos with the sunshine.  By taking different photos of different times of day you will learn what works and what doesn't.And as you improve you will capture some great shots at different times of the day.

Another great way to practice is at big events.Events like festivals or county fairs.Or you can attend sporting events.  Even a child's soccer game is a great event to take pictures.  Doing San Diego event photography has allowed to realize how different the kind of photos you take at big events are.  You will improve your skill at taking photos of moving subjects by practicing at some sporting events.

So there are some of your tips to improving some of your photography skills. It can help in improving your skills. And in doing so you will also have a lot of fun because taking photos is fun.

Want to Learn Green Screen Software Tricks

Published by under General

Taking a professional shot of a child comes with its own issues, not excluding the task of holding the child's focus long enough to snap their picture. However, there are other major problems photographers deal with unknowingly. In no particular order, these problematic issues are: having the child not look as if they are truly a part of the backdrop, creating an image that does not hold the viewer's attention, or especially creating a boring picture that feels flat. All three of these problems can plague even the most professional photographer at times, and this article strives to help them to be problems no longer.

First of all, while employing a photographed setting like a professionally printed backdrop, those who see the outcome may be able to figure out that it was edited. Most of the time this isn't a huge issue, but occasionally we all experience these nit pickers. Using modest props would be one approach you could use to fight back. To begin with, instead of using a printed backdrop or muslin, consider instead the use of a green screen. With a green screen and inexpensive chroma key software it's much easier to use a digital photograph which you can position just right instead of trying to get just the right angle with the printed cloth.

Now with the child standing or sitting in front of the chroma key screen, add in a prop or two that can add to the illusion that the child is really there. A holiday like Christmas, for example, could have the child carrying a cheerfully wrapped gift box for the picture. In another situation, such as the beach, you could have the child put on a swimsuit and wear a beach towel. The main idea is to make an effort to add natural elements to the child's surroundings. Tricking your viewers with the perfect illusion can be done if you pair your props and digital backdrops correctly.

One more advantage that comes with adding props in like these is that they make involving your spectators much easier. Consider this - which of the two photos would be more attractive in your opinion? Would you be more interested in the photo of a child in a finely-tailored outfit against a backdrop of the Star of David, or one in which he wears a yamulkah while lighting a menorah for Hanukkah in just a three-quarter scene? The first photograph provides thorough perception while the last one is far more captivating and enjoyable in viewing.

However, there is a story in each of these photos. A baby laying on a blanket is cute, but add in a background of a grassy field and you've got a nature spirit. On that very same field, retrieve the child and hand them over to their mother - you now have a gentle spirit, dozing in his mother's arms. Remember this: Use props in conjunction with a green screen to help make the scene more solid and real, to engage the viewer on an emotional level and to tell a story. Start today by finding out more about green screen software.

How To Use Chroma Key For Authentic-Looking Backgrounds

Published by under General

There can be nothing worse than taking a professional photograph with a squirming 2 year old child, and a parent staring you down for that perfect shot.To make it even harder, imagine having a boring backdrop, a backdrop that doesn’t belong with the child`s theme. Throw in an extra boring background to the sum and the resulting chaos makes you feel a tad on the edge from it all.  How can you solve these problems and come out with professional portraits that will make others search you out?  Here is how by using chroma key or a.k.green screen wizardry.

No one likes to see a phony photographed backdrop when using a professional printed background. These tricks of the trade may help you - just take a look.Finding high-quality, realistic props helps a great deal.  By using a green screen and the work-horse (fast chroma key software), the work becomes effortless and more profitable when using  a digital photograph for the background. What else you can do: you can align the object and the background just right instead of trying to juggle so many tasks at a time.

Have the person sitting or standing in front of the green screen. Then, insert a prop or two that can create the impression that the person is really present in the digital background. Some examples are to show special time of a birthday with a gift-wrapped present. If the person is in a flower garden (on the final photo), have them hold flowers or flower props in their hands.  The important factor is to make the photograph look natural.Working with a better quality prop coupled with an equally superior digital background makes for an enchanting natural looking scene.

Props help to draw the viewer into the photograph and make the portrait more emotional.Thisnk about it, which is more eye-catching a person standing or a person holding a soccer award with a smile mile-wide on their face?We all know from experience that, at times, a prop can tell a whole story.  Imagine a child holding a birthday present untying the bow and the rest of the story unfolds before your eyes.

We all love to hear stories and the same goes for photography.  Nothing tugs at our heart strings to see a new puppy with its owner.  Take that puppy and place it into a park with its favorite ball and you can feel the joy surround the photograph.  Props give any portrait instant emotions and add life to any photograph. Green Screen Wizard software helps you make it a snap.

Imagine how much fun you will have: how to use green screen software program with your portraits a.k.a chroma key software to produce high-quality, authentic-looking snapshots of peoples’ lives.

How to Prepare Your Oval Picture Frame for Hanging

Published by under General

Now that you've selected your oval picture frame it is time to prepare your photo to be placed in the frame. Although this isn't difficult to do, here are some tips help make the process easier and help you avoid making any mistakes.

1. Before you start to cut your picture to fit the oval frame, you need to make sure the picture you’ve chosen will look good inside an oval frame. The best way to check is to take the frame apart so you can place just the frame over the photo. To do this, first remove the frame back and then take out the glass and set it carefully to the side. Place the oval frame over your picture and center the frame around the subjects in your photo. This step will help you decide if you like how your picture looks inside an oval picture frame.

2. Next, take the glass from your oval picture frame and carefully place it over the photo where the frame had been. Carefully adjust the glass until the positioning looks good. Use care when moving the glass so your picture doesn’t get scratched.

3. Take your time in aligning the glass as the subject or individuals in the frame need to be straight in the picture.  Aligning a subject in an oval frame isn’t as simple as aligning a rectangular or square picture frame so make sure it looks right. Ideally, the individuals in the photo should be centered in the frame and have equal amount of space around them. For vertical spacing the subject’s head should be approximately two-thirds of the way up from the base of the oval frame. Positioning the subject’s head in the center of the frame leaves too much space above and throws off the picture’s eye appeal.

4. When you've found the perfect placement for the picture, gently and carefully trace along the outside of the glass with a thin pen to create your cut line. Always avoid using thick pens or markers for tracing as they may bleed on the picture.

5. Now it's time to cut. With a sharp pair of scissors carefully cut along the line you traced. If you have a mat knife you can certainly use it, however most people only have scissors available. Be sure the scissors are sharp because dull scissors can tear or crease the picture. Once your photo is cut, make sure to clean the glass and give it plenty of time to dry so it won't cause any moisture damage on your picture.

6. Check to see if your oval picture frame came with frame backing. If it did, all you have to do is put the glass, photo and frame back on and you’re all done. If it didn't come with frame backing, you can make your own frame back with either a piece of cardboard or a nice archival mat board. The purpose of the frame backing is to help hold your picture and glass securely in place with the help of some small brad nails. If you need to make your own backing and are framing an important picture, you should use archival mat board because the acid in plain cardboard can degrade your photo over time.

The first step to making your own frame back is to place the oval frame face up on the cardboard or mat board. Next, you'll need to trace along the outside edge of the oval picture frame back so it will fit perfectly in your frame. Once you have cut it out and placed it in the frame, you'll need to use brad nails about 1/4 inch long to secure the frame backing. You do this by placing the brad nails on the board and pushing them into the molding on the back of the wood picture frame. Once the brad nails are securely holding the frame backing you’re all ready to hang your oval picture frame.

As you can see, preparing and assembling your oval picture frame takes a little time but by following the steps it should make the process easy to do. Once your oval picture frame is beautifully hanging on the wall, you'll feel proud knowing that you did it all by yourself.

Published by under General

The technological world is very dynamic, changes are always taking place everyday. The world of digital cameras is also one which is upgraded and improved on all the time. It doesn’t matter whether you are looking for the popular brand DSLR Cameras or any SLR camera then you are in the right place.

One thing that I will be able to tell you though is that if it is said to be DSLR Camera then it really does not matter what brand it is it will do the job for you. Even critics agree that DSLR cameras differ very little in specifications. So if you are worried about them being too pricy then hey that should comfort you in some way.

The advantages of DSLR Cameras are all too technological to mention here buts it’s suffice to say that they take better quality pictures, with better resolution and high shatter speeds. Also included in this list are the focusing and preview abilities of these gadgets. If you are interested in knowing exactly how DSLR cameras differ from normal cameras then you would have to do further research.

Back to your problem of finding the best DSLR Camera, I suppose we would then have to look at other features of these pricy gadgets to see which would be the best option to go for apart from their picture taking qualities. You might want to consider their ability to be linked to computer systems, upload and download speeds and compatibility with operating systems and other smart devices.

I suppose this is where the real difference comes in. That is the way you will be able to edit, file, share, store and retrieve your photos. Otherwise if your concern is picture quality then as a photographer you should be aware that the character of your pictures is not affected by the camera you use but your ability to spot the right moment to capture an image. I recommend that you are check out one of the following for some of the best quality SLR cameras:

How To Easily Turn A Child’s Imagination Into Vivid Pictures Using Green Screen

Published by under General

Want a fantastic green screen photography niche to boost your business?

So, without a delay, take a look at children's photography.  From prenatal prolife pictures to a smiling grad, family and grandparents look eagerly forward to seeing little one’s grow up through photo’s.  Now stop and think of just how many special occasions and photograph sessions you can expect in a child’s life from birthdays to sweet sixteen, wow!Next???!!  You can’t forget the other top celebrations that people want special memories for such as:  Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and graduations.

You will be surprised by the extra residual income this niche market will supply your business with year after year.Who would really want to pass the opportunity to increase sales in photography, but what if the child is unwilling to pose for many portraits?

Here are 3 amazing opportunities you can increase your income with the same customer without you spending a huge wad to execute those sales.  I know you are smiling now!

I don’t know about you but my first early memories of being snagged with an adult close by always leaned to the age old question of:  “so what are you going to be when you grow up?”  Of course, it can be a simple way to get a child to warm up but often it can supply fuel to a child’s future by allowing them to create their own world.  It is always cool to hear a child’s response as they think of themselves as a police officer, firefighter, doctor or a ballerina.  Now picture that same child dressed up in their dream profession and you have an emotional drawn picture to make grown-ups weep.

It is easy and here is how:
1. Set up a green screen to take the child’s picture in front of.
2. Have the child dress-up in their famed professions (you may want to buy props firefighter hat..etc.).
3. Use a simple chroma key software to place the child’s portrait into the proper background.

What is even more fun is the gold star approach.  Find out what the child recently accomplished that the parents are bragging about.  It can be anything from a super sports star, a top grade report card to the ballerina ball award.

After that, set the child's picture as if they are posing proudly next to their own display.  This can be accomplished by holding a pose to showing off a medal  with a green screen phtography background.  Using powerful green screen software, have them showing off that medal or posed as a ballerina in their famous play.

Thirdly, you can use themes to bolster your niches market.Amongst others, you may want to quickly check out what the child loves to do as a hobby or sport.  Find a way to make it into a fun photo theme.Picture setting up a digital ballerina scene, accepting roses from an admirer or a trophy in a competition.  Imagine the parents and child’s reactions to this themed photography.

Anything is possible when using this free green screen photography guide coupled with chroma key software – that does the hard work for you.

Photography and the ways on getting great shots

Published by under General

One of the things that people love to do in their lives is to take photographs of almost anything dear to them or something that catches their attention.Whether it is practiced professionally or just something to capture memorable moments with and family, a lot of people do it.And people loved it more with the invention of digital cameras especially those point-and-shoot digital cameras. But taking good photographs is not just about looking for something to take, pointing, then shooting.  In fact if you really want to take nice photos there are some things you can do.So, here are some of the tips to help you in taking great photos.

First one is a big help in taking great photos. They call it perspective. The place where you will take the shot is very important.Taking a picture from the side of the subjects will result to a totally different perspective as compared to a shot from the front of the subject.  I have seen this firsthand doing San Diego wedding photographer.Taking photos at different angles will result to different looks using the same subject or scenery.By taking shots in different angles you can see which shot is the most beautiful.

Here is another uncommon one.Don't make your subjects as the center of your shots. Most people are taught to make sure your subject is in the center of the picture.  I have seen from my experience taking photos as a San Diego photographer this doesn't always produce the best shot.By changing the style of the shot you can create a more attractive shot with varying flows.

Last tip is to use a technique they call depth.  With this you are trying to amplify the depth of a shot.So that you can take a 3-dimensional shot rather than a 2 dimensional one.  This makes for beautiful shots.  This has helped me make some of my San Diego event photography come alive.Rather than looking a flat photo, the shots should make someone feel that they are also there in the picture.

Following these tips will turn some of your amateur photography into beautiful expressions.

LCD Screen is the #1 Part That Will Break on Your Digital Camera

Published by under General

It's a simple fact that we live in a throw-away society. You buy that brand new fancy digital camera with all the bells and whistles for $400, and in 6 months to 1 year it's worth maybe half that, and then the unthinkable happens: you drop it and it breaks. The LCD is cracked, or the lens is jammed; what do you do? You head back to the store with your poor little camera and the guy behind the counter (that knows nothing about cameras except for what's written on the box, and even less about camera repair) tells you it's not worth it to fix it and you should toss it in the trash. You feel ripped off and mad at the camera manufacturer and you toss it out and buy a new one made by somebody else.

There are alternatives, there are ALWAYS alternatives to every problem. Honest! Yes, it may cost 0 to fix your camera, and yes you can buy that camera in the bubble pack on the shelf at Wall Mart for less than 0, but what kind of quality do you honestly expect from a 0 camera? Not very good quality I hope, because you're not going to get it.

#1 - Broken/cracked LCD screen.

It was hard for me to choose between a jammed lens and a broken LCD screen but I stuck with LCD for #1 because it's so easy to break your LCD that you don't even have to touch the camera to do it!

The LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is the view screen on the back of the camera that lets you see menus, playback pictures etc. An LCD screen is a very thin and fragile part of the camera and on many of them it is completely unprotected! Look at the back of your camera, is the screen recessed slightly or is the back of the camera flat and smooth? If it's flat you have a protective 'window' or 'glass' over the LCD to help prevent damage and breakage. If it's not flat, you have nothing protecting your LCD and should put a good quality LCD screen protector on the camera and NOT those thin, flimsy 'saran wrap' plastic film screen protectors, they are worthless.

- Don't expose your camera to high heat or extreme cold in your car. Extreme heat can cause expansion of the liquid in the LCD and cause it to 'crack', and on the other side of things extreme cold can cause it to freeze!

- Don't ever put anything pressing against your LCD screen in your camera bag, as it can crack the LCD screen (yes even if there is a window over it there is a chance it will break!)

- Don't put your camera in your back pocket and then sit down!

- Don't put your camera in your front pocket and then roll over on it.

- ... Just avoid putting the camera in your pants pocket completely. =)

Ok, so it's broken, what do you do now?

- The manufacturer will just site impact damage and will refuse the repair even if the camera wasn't dropped etc. You can still try, but they will most likely not fix it.

- Search for defective cameras on eBay and use one to repair yours and make one good camera out of them.

- Look for an actual camera repair business and not somebody that will send it to the manufacturer and tell you it's $200 and 4-6 weeks to repair. (If they tell you this, they are NOT repairing your camera for you, they are sending it to the manufacturer, guaranteed)

Many LCD screens are very easy to install and you can do it yourself and all you need is a small screwdriver. There are LCD repairs that are quite difficult; even seasoned pro's don't want to do them! I can't tell you Brand .... is the best and Brand ... is the worst, it's really not like that. Certain SERIES of cameras have 1 or 2 models that are difficult to work on, yet the rest of them are fairly straight forward. You need to decide for yourself if you want to open your camera and try the repair yourself or not.

How is an LCD replaced?

With most Canon camera LCD repair for example (using them as the example because they have the largest market share) all you do is disconnect the ribbon cable for the LCD and the backlight (the light that shines through the LCD and allows you to see what is on the screen) and then install the new LCD. Some LCDs do come with the backlight that shines through it attached and others do not. Sometimes the LCD backlight will need soldering to the PCB of the camera or to the LCD ribbon cable, but most often it will not.

- Be sure to never touch the flash capacitor contacts! You will shock yourself pretty good if you do it and it will hurt a bit. You may end up tossing the camera half-way across the room when it happens to you. (Yeah, I've done it, I've been repairing cameras for 5 years now so....) We use an item called a "flash capacitor discharger" and we use them every time we work on a camera.

I hope this sheds some light on the subject of camera repair. There's no need to toss out your camera just because the LCD screen is broken, in fact you might be able to fix it yourself!
