Photography Hints For Novices No Body Will Have Talked To You About

Published by under General

Contrary to what many will have you believe learning beginners tips and tricks in photography just isn't that hard. There are of course differences between the old film cameras and the new Digital cameras which you will need to be aware of.

Taking advantage of the differences with the innovative digital format is truly going to aid you, you can learn these basics with my basic digital photography guide located at my website for free. The truth is this stuff really isn't rocket science.

Never be limited again

With the digital format we are now hardly limited at all when it comes to the number of photos we can take. Never again will you have to pay for a whole load of prints that you didn't even want.

It is a good idea though to make sure you keep your photo collection tidy by removing or editing those photos that just don't quite cut it or are too much the same. This is because you do not want to have to go through loads and loads of useless images to find your good ones later.

Ways to best go about storing your digital photos

One great way to save on space is to save your images in a lower resolution format. Your high-resolution photos will take up more storage space than the lower resolution one. Generally you will probably only need a really high end resolution with your photographs when intending to print them out in a very large size, say like a poster for instance. If in your basic photography you are only going to use the photographs on the web and or on a laptop, you can utilise a smaller resolution option.

You will be able to also increase the compression the camera uses for your images. If your camera can do this the feature could be used to save space on your camera's memory card and so give you access to a large number of photos on the same card.

You should increase your storage space because eventually, you will run out. There's nothing worse than running out of space just when you were about to take one of your best shots.

The dreaded battery issue

Your camera’s batteries are so important for using your digital camera.

If you are running low on battery power, avoiding overuse of your LCD digital display should help significantly to lengthen your cameras usage time. Not using Flash will also help a lot. If your camera doesn't use its own special power pack, make sure you are at least using good rechargeable batteries and that you have several charged replacement sets of batteries ready with you at all times. All amateurs, no matter what their level of experience, can enjoy digital photography for beginners. Soon you'll leave behind the times when you were trying to learn beginners digital photography and you will be taking photographs you are genuinely proud of, if you have not at the moment.

you will learn that it is easy to go from digital photography for beginners to the next level of photography, as you get more comfortable with your digital camera.

Two Great Digital Cameras on Sale Now

Published by under General

If you're in the market for a new digital camera, this week I've selected two for my review. The Nikon D4 and the Nikon D40 DSlr. Both are the Slr type and they each are priced between $450.00 and $600.00. Depending on the sale, perks and what-knots.

Let's take a peek at the details of the Nikon D60 first:Nikon D60 w/AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR -Exclusive Black Gold Special Edition. This camera has good value for it's price, it is of high quality and pretty much does it all.

As usual for a digital camera it's light-weight and so easy to use that anyone in the family can take professional photos. I'm very pleased to say that I'd recommend this camera to anyone looking for an affordable Digital SLR camera. With the Nikon D60 the date can be imprinted if you desire in the lower right hand corner of print as you shoot. Pretty much everything you would normally associate with the DSLR's are there. You'll find a super selection of choices for your manual modes, programmed modes, and even the automatic modes.

I'd give the Nikon D60 a thumbs up for both the novice and semi pro's. If you can find this digital camera on sale, that's a nice bonus. My second selection for this review is the Nikon D40 DSlr. The details of this camera are as follows: 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor lens.

Just getting into digital photography. The Nikon D40 is easy to use, takes super pictures in automatic mode and is quite an impressive digital camera.

This digital camera is quite comfortable for the novice to use. It's controls are simple, and the camera seems to be one with durability. It is also great for the casual hobbyist or someone becoming a little more serious in digital photography. It's very versatile too. Whether you're taking wider shots trying to take in the outdoors or getting those close up and personal shots, you have full control over that perfect shot.

Simple manual modes make this one of the better digitals camera on sale for the beginner. It may be a little bit larger than some prefer in a digital camera. You may want to hold it for a little while, get used to the feel and weight to see if it's a little heavier than your comfort zone allows.

These are not the cheapest digital cameras on sale, but they are some of the better buys for the somewhat serious beginner or the more casual digital photography hobbyist.

You'll find these particular digital cameras for sale this week at a variety of electronic outlets. I wouldn't classify either of these cameras in the discount digital camera field, but discounted merchandise is sometimes along the lines of the, 'you get what you pay for' buyers plan.

Digital Camera Tips – Formatting Your Memory Card

Published by under General

Digital Camera Tips - Formatting Your Memory Card

The first time you use a new memory card with your digital camera you should always format it in the camera, or it may not record your images correctly.

Why should you format your memory card?
These cards are like mini computers and have file systems, folders etc.
Formatting in the camera sets the card up so that it functions properly for that particular camera.

Sometimes the camera will recognise a new card and sometimes you need to go into the MENU function of your digital camera.
It is usually found in SETUP however if in doubt check with your manual.

It takes no time at all to do this and you can carry on with the business of taking photos confident in the knowledge that your memory card is functioning correctly.

Please note: Never remove a memory card when the camera is still switched on, or switch the camera off while it is still writing to to the card after you have taken a picture, as in each case the memory card will be corrupted.

After recording images for some time onto a card you could also see error messages on your camera. Reformatting the card should fix this.

The final and most useful reason for formatting is that after successfully downloading your images to your computer (check first!), it is good practice to format your memory card each time you put it back into the camera, even if you have deleted the contents of the card using a computer.

This is a good habit to adopt as it minimizes the risk of communication falures between the card and the camera, especially if you use the card in different cameras.

It is also a quick way to delete your images as reformatting clears or overwrites the file directory.

The question is frequently asked “What if I have deleted all my images in error or my memory card is corrupted?”

Camera manufacturers usually state that formatting a memory card “permanently deletes all photographs and other data the card may contain”.

However, this is not strictly true as the formatting process only overwrites the file directory which contains your image files. The images are usually still there but you cannot access them.

All is not lost! A good photo recovery program can usually retrieve most images. You can download free software from the internet which will help you to recover your lost images.
Check through your search engine of choice for Memory Card Recovery or Disk Recovery.

Canvas Prints Express Yourself

Published by under General

Using Canvas Printing To Express Yourself

Taking digital photos and converting them to canvas prints is one of the easiest and best ways to truly express yourself.  A canvas printing of your favorite picture is something that really will stand out from a typical average everyday run of the mill photograph. The special techniques can make use of new and old photographs you have and convert them into canvas prints to hang in your office or home.

Important Aspects Of Canvas Printing

Many people consider canvas printing to be too difficult and in stead settle for sub par printing of their images.  The truth is that if you are willing to take the time to work on your pictures, you can use canvas printing to turn any picture into a work of art.  Whether you are doing still life, skylines, or personal subject is of no consequence as you can use software on you computer to make any these targets a reasonable subject for canvas printing.  I have seen people that do not even know how to use a camera be able to make wonderful pieces of art from images they either got from a friend or pulled of the internet.

If you do have a camera and want to get a fresh start on creating your canvas printing I suggest making sure that you have as high a resolution camera as you can find.Canvas prints are larger than a photograph which is why need to be careful that your image does not appear grainy.  While you can use software to correct those issues it is usually better to simply have a high quality camera so that you do not to make those adjustments.  In addition to that you will some kind of photo editing software.  The software of choice for most people is Adobe Photoshop. The tools built into the program will take your photo image to the next level of art.  Whether you are adjust color, cropping in other images, or drawing directly onto the image yourself Adobe Photoshop will have what you need to get the job done.

After you get all that equipment you now need to find a place to print your photos.  There are many places out there that specifically specialize in canvas printing.  Try to find one that does because more then likely once you get one print and see what it looks like, you are going to want to get more.  I would find someone that you feel comfortable working with that does not charge an arm and a leg for their pictures.  But getting your photos printed  on canvas this way can be expensive and much more expensive then regular pictures.  I would expect to pay a minimum of £50 to get it done and that would be for the absolute smallest of photos 10x8.  The larger ones can cost hundreds of pounds.

Once you have all of these things in order the only thing left to do is find the images you want to work with.  Whether you are using a camera, scanning in old photos, or downloading some public images off of the internet, once you have the physical picture you want to work with dive right in and start editing.Don't forget to keep back ups of your work as you move along, this way should you mistakenly make an error you always have the saved version to go back to.  Once you are ready to go, get in touch with the printer, send them the image and see what they think.  That is about it to canvas printing, so get out there and get started today!

Professional Wedding Photography – Is It Necessary Or Can We Go It Alone?

Published by under General

For engaged couples on a tight budget, professional wedding photography is often one of the first places they look to cut corners. Some couples consider purchasing smaller wedding photography packages or even forgoing the package altogether and simply paying the photographer for his or her time and the raw media. Other couples begin to question whether they need professional wedding photography at all.

Professional wedding photography bring a lot to the table that may be hard to replace. The professional is an expert at capturing subtleties of expression and nuances of the environment. Your friend or relative may be reasonably skilled with their digital camera, but unless he or she has professional experience, it is likely that the person will miss some of the fine details that a professional photographer would capture.

If you want a wedding album that you can be proud of, professional wedding photography is a must. Doing the photos yourself or asking a friend or family member to do it is risky. You might get lucky and end up with a few photos you're happy with, but good photography has nothing to do with luck. Many factors such as lighting and camera angles have to be considered before the shot is even taken. It's unlikely that an amateur would be able to capture the true feel of your wedding day in photo form.

Couples who choose contemporary wedding photography, such as wedding photojournalism, may not feel that hiring a professional photographer is necessary for them. Their shots will be candid, not posed, and will reflect the day as it unfolds. They may feel that a friend or family member will be able to capture these shots accurately.

However, it is important to keep in mind that a friend or relative does not have professional detachment in regards to your wedding. He or she will experience emotions, personal drama, and the gamut of reactions that come with attending a large family event. It is possible that even the most well meaning friend will inadvertently miss some shots due to other things that are happening throughout the day. Additionally, the photojournalistic style requires that the photographer remain completely uninvolved in the unfolding situation. This is a difficult position in which to put someone who obviously cares deeply about you.

Affordable professional wedding photography is available from trained wedding photography professionals. If your budget is truly tight, you may want to hire a wedding photographer who has just started out on his or her own and is eager to build business. Many times, he or she will have been well trained as a staff photographer with a larger company prior to starting his or her own company. Be sure to ask for samples of the photographer's work, but do not write someone off simply because the business is new.

Also, consider hiring a wedding photography professional solely for his or her time plus the original media, forgoing expensive wedding photography packages. Explain to the photographer that you are on a tight budget and enlist his or her help in saving money.

Hiring professional wedding photographers has its advantages, but there are times when you could get away with not using one. For example, if your wedding is going to be a small affair with only a few friends and family, you could skip the professional wedding photography in favor of doing the photos yourself. For larger affairs, taking the time to fit a professional photographer into your budget is well worth the money and effort. Affordable wedding photography is available, and with some planned searching, you can find it.

Basic Digital Photography

Enjoying the Basics in Digital Photography

Basic digital photography is easy for people of all ages to learn. These cameras have many new features, that will help you capture many memorable moments of your life. Any wonderful picture taken is always going to be one the photographers will keep for a long time. Basic Digital photography is not difficult to learn. Photographers of all ages do not have to be brilliant to take wonderful photo with a digital camera. Basic photography means learning how to operate one of these special cameras.

Basic digital photography includes capturing and saving the desirable photos in the memory of the camera. The photos that are not good or worth saving can be deleted with ease. After learning to take good photos with basic digital photography, you can download them to a printer or computer. Some people like to print out their photos while others like to keep the photos on their computers available for viewing. Using digital photography you can easily share all the photographs you have taken with others. Photographers can quickly send their photos with a simple push of a button to relatives, neighbors and friends around the world.

Taking Basic Digital Photography is a Great Beginning.

Photographers need to have a good knowledge of basic digital photography to take pictures, after which, many continue learning to improve their skills. Beyond basic digital photography, photographers will usually want to improve the composition of their photos. They are motivated to make their photographs much more than just ’good enough’, they want them to be exceptional. There are several astonishing examples of pictures taken unprofessionally and therefore are not considered very well done. For example, if a picture was taken without the photographer realizing the background area had a pole behind the person they were taking the picture of, then, there may be an unexpected object that could appear in the photo sticking out of someone’s head.

To move beyond the basics of digital photography there are many products that can help you. There are computer programs that can help photographers improve the image that they originally took with their camera. If the picture you took is too dark or too light you can fix it with one of these computer programs. There are cropping tools so a photographer can remove unwanted people and things. After mastering basic photography, people can learn to enlarge a photo or enlarge a part of the photo. Practically everyone enjoys having a photo of a loved one in their home or office area. Once you get the basics of photography, you will be able to frame many of the great pictures you have taken, or have them professionally framed for your home or office.

Problems finding a good camera?

Published by under General

The latest digital cameras are brimming with technological features, this often leads to people buying something that doesn't suit their needs. So what are should you look for if you are looking to buy a digitalcamera? Just to help with the confusion that you may be feeling, some information on what to look out for is discussed below. The most important question you need to ask yourself is: what sort of photography do you intend to use the camera for?

Will you be using it every day? A point to remember when you are looking at buying a digital camera is what type of batteries it uses because ideally they should be rechargeable, long term it will be less expensive to use this type of battery. You also have to consider the power of the computer and the printer you will be connecting it to for editing and printing needs. You may want to consider buying your camera as part of a new computer system which would probably include all the software and a printer as well. If you don't already have some proprietary image editing software then do not worry because it will usually be included when you buy a digital camera but a photo printer will have to be factored into the equation if you don't already have one.

Most people with computers will have a printer but you must check to see if it can be used for printing photos. The megapixel resolution of the camera will ideally need to be adjusted as high as it will go if you want to produce decent size images. When buying your digital camera, look for a large LCD screen version which many newer cameras have as standard, this screen allows for greater shooting flexibility in addition to making it easier to view them afterwards.

The more comfortable your choice is, the more likely it is you will use it. Take note of how easy it is to operate because although functions are important, if it isn't easy to use, it won't be! Many newer digital cameras come equipped with large internal rechargeable batteries but if not you shot invest in a couple of sets, not only are these extremely cost effective, less batteries means less are disposed of which helps the environment. All digital cameras have a LCD screen which is a small screen located at the back of the unit, large screens make taking the picture so much easier.

Some lower specification versions only have a LCD screen and the larger this is, Try to buy a model with an optical zoom which usually start with 3x power, If you only want to take casual pictures of family and friends you will not need an all-singing-all-dancing model that will cost a small fortune. If you enjoy close up pictures then you need a model with an optical zoom. If you are serious about buying a digital camera then you should try to avoid purchasing one with only a digital zoom. Two other things to look out for are diopter adjustment for people with poorer vision and a tripod socket because both are very useful. I hope this information has helped you understand a few of the basic expressions and topics that will help you buy a digital camera.

Argos Digital Cameras

Published by under General

If you are looking to purchase a new camera, the Argos Digital Camera Store is the place to go. They carry a wide variety of digital cameras from Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Olympus, and many others. Many people like the amount of photos that a digital camera can hold. Plus, you may choose to down load your favorite photos on to a disc, and delete the ones that you do not like. Digital cameras offer much sharper and better resolution photos than ever before.

All digital cameras come with a zoom lens, so that you can capture that shot that is so hard to get a close up of. Keep in mind though that the closer you zoom in on an object on a regular digital zoom camera, you may lose some of the details that you really wanted to capture. If you are a photo nut, you would be much better off to use an optical zoom. Optical zoom lens can be purchased that will zoom up to 10x and even more, however, the more you want to zoom in, the higher the camera will cost.

If you purchase a larger memory card, you can be able to use your camera for taking short video clips, and be able to play them back on your computer. There are also cameras that can give you settings for high sensitive photos in case you are in a low light area, and on bright days, you can choose to use a setting such as a power booster.

Many of the Argos digital cameras have different sizes of screens for viewing your photos; the larger the screen, the better you can decide which photos you want to keep and which photos you want to delete.

Transferring photos from a digital camera requires mega pixels and the more mega pixels that your camera has the better the photo can be copied to the printer and the better your printer will copy the photo onto a photo paper. The more mega pixels you have the more space is taken up on your camera, so you will want to purchase a larger memory card anyway.

Perhaps all you want is a small digital camera that is small enough to fit into your pocket or person in case you want to capture those special photos of the kids when they do something really funny or embarrassing. Argos has a line of small digital cameras that have many fine extras. You can even get much smaller cameras than 14 x 10 x 3 cm. The great thing about the small digital cameras is that you still get nice, sharp, and clear pictures just as if you would with a larger camera, but do not let me mislead you. The small cameras do have their limitations, and you should check them out for yourself to see if a very small camera is right for you.

If you are looking for a digital camera for a professional necessity, you would be happier choosing a digital SLR camera. They have a choice of lenses to choose from and one touch buttons that will let you shoot high speed photos one after the other so you can get several shots of a moving target, without missing a movement.

Argos’ camera section is the place to check all the wide varieties of digital cameras that suits your purpose.
